CCASD was originally established as the South Dakota Post-High School Coordinating Council in 1970. Its purpose was to coordinate College Fairs to bring College Admission Counselors and high school students together to explore their options throughout the state.
Much has changed since 1970 but CCASD remains committed to the coordination of activities which support students and their families in academic and career decision-making. In addition to College Fairs, CCASD publishes a SD Educational Opportunities student guide, a School Counselor Directory, and conducts professional development workshops for High School Counselors.
The central purpose of CCASD is to facilitate communication between secondary and post-secondary professionals and coordinate post-high planning activities for South Dakota students.
