CONFERENCE UPDATES & REMINDERS

  • The conference will be held at Deadwood Mountain Grand from April 30 - May 2, 2023
  • View Breakout Sessions here!
  • The tentative conference schedule has been added to the website. It will be finalized by mid-April.
  • A Welcome Reception will be held on Sunday evening , please join us if you're able! Heavy appetizers and a variety of beverages will be served. All attendees will receive one (1) complimentary beverage ticket. Attendees will also be able to check-in for the conference and receive their conference materials at this time.
  • Calling all school counselors!  DACAC will be awarding four $265 professional development grants for school counselors from either ND or SD who wish to attend this year's conference.  This grant will cover conference registration and two-nights lodging. Any expenses exceeding this amount are the responsibility of the individual grant recipient(s).  If you would like to be considered for this grant, please send Seinquis Leinen, DACAC President, a short 1-2 paragraph essay as to how attending this conference will impact your daily work with students and partnerships with college admissions staff.  Please submit your response no later than Friday, April 7. Recipients will be selected by April 12. Hotel reservations have already been held in advance for selected recipients. NOTE: If you are a school counselor who has already registered for the conference and/or made your own hotel arrangements, you are still eligible to apply for this grant!
  • Keynote Speaker: South Dakota's own Erin Fagnan.  Sergeant First Class Erin Fagnan of Rapid City is the first female from South Dakota to attend and graduate from the academy while serving in the South Dakota Army National Guard, and graduated on the Commandant’s List – putting her in the top 10 in her class of 107 students. She has more than 13 years of service with the South Dakota Army National Guard (SDARNG). Fagnan will be speaking about how to break through your comfort zone.
  • Most attendees are lodging at Deadwood Mountain Grand or The Hotel by Gold Dust. The deadline to receive the secured discounted state rate at these hotels has passed. Visit the conference website for hotel contact information to make your reservation if you haven't already done so.
